Day 26 — Strengthened in the Inner Man
Good morning, and welcome to the Pathway of Faith devotional.
Our scripture today comes from Ephesians chapter 3, verse 16.
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.”
There are seasons in life when strength feels like it is running out.
Not all at once.
But gradually.
Quietly.
Until even simple tasks begin to feel heavier than they should.
The Apostle Paul speaks directly into that kind of experience.
He draws a distinction between the outer man and the inner man.
The outer man represents what is visible and physical.
Energy levels.
Emotional capacity.
Mental endurance.
The demands of daily life pressing against human limits.
And when those pressures build, the outer man can feel exhausted.
Weakened.
Overwhelmed.
But Paul does not leave us there.
He points us to a deeper source of strength.
The inner man.
This is where the Spirit of God works in ways that are not always visible but are deeply real.
God does not only strengthen circumstances.
He strengthens the person carrying them.
And He does it according to the riches of His glory.
Not according to your current ability.
Not according to your remaining energy.
But according to His limitless supply.
This means that even when external conditions remain unchanged, something within you can be renewed.
Steady.
Reinforced.
Held together by divine strength.
The Holy Spirit does not always remove the weight of the season.
But He strengthens you under it.
He stabilizes your thoughts when they begin to drift toward discouragement.
He anchors your heart when emotions feel unsteady.
And He breathes endurance into places that feel depleted.
This is quiet strength.
Not loud.
Not dramatic.
But deeply sustaining.
The kind of strength that carries you through what you could not carry alone.
Today’s Pathway Step:
When you notice fatigue today—whether physical, emotional, or mental—pause before reacting.
Take a moment to acknowledge your limitation.
Then speak this truth aloud:
“My outer man may feel weak, but my inner man is being strengthened by the Holy Spirit.”
Say it again.
“My outer man may feel weak, but my inner man is being strengthened by the Holy Spirit.”
Let that truth steady your thoughts today.
Let us pray.
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge my need for Your strength today.
When I feel weak, remind me that Your Spirit is working within me.
Strengthen my inner man when my outer strength fades.
Stabilize my thoughts, steady my emotions, and uphold my heart.
Let Your power carry me through this day.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Thank you for joining today’s Pathway of Faith devotional.
May the Lord renew your strength today, stabilize your spirit, and fill your inner life with His sustaining power.
