Anchor Scripture (KJV): Proverbs 16:9
“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
The devotional can acknowledge a truth we all experience.
We make plans.
We prepare.
We organize our calendars.
Then life happens.
An unexpected phone call.
A doctor’s appointment.
A family need.
Fatigue.
Disappointment.
Suddenly the plans we carefully made no longer fit the day we’ve been given.
That doesn’t mean we’ve failed.
It means we’re human.
The encouraging truth is that God is never surprised by the interruptions that surprise us.
While we may not have seen them coming, He already knew every step before we took it.
Sometimes the greatest lesson isn’t learning how to stay on our schedule.
It’s learning how to trust God’s direction when our schedule changes.
Perhaps today hasn’t gone the way you hoped it would.
Perhaps you’re carrying unfinished work, unanswered questions, or unexpected burdens.
Remember this:
God has not stopped leading simply because your plans changed.
He is still directing your steps.
He is still opening doors.
He is still working His purpose, even when your day looks different than you imagined.
Reflection
Think about a time when an unexpected interruption ultimately became a blessing. How does remembering God’s faithfulness help you trust Him when today’s plans don’t unfold as expected?
Pathway Step
Today, surrender your schedule to the Lord. Instead of asking, “Why did my plans change?” ask, “Lord, what would You have me learn or do in this moment?”
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that even when life interrupts my plans, nothing interrupts Your purpose. Help me to trust Your direction more than my own schedule. Give me peace when the unexpected comes and confidence that You are still leading every step of my journey. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
