Walk in Kindness

Anchor Scripture (KJV)

“Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
— Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)

Devotional

Kindness can seem like a small thing.

A gentle word. A patient response. Holding a door. Listening when someone needs to talk. Helping without being asked. Noticing the person everyone else has overlooked.

None of these things may seem remarkable, but in the hands of Christ, small acts of kindness can carry His love into places words alone may never reach.

Jesus noticed people.

He noticed the hurting, the lonely, the sick, the discouraged, and those others preferred to pass by. He did not treat people as interruptions. He saw them as people who mattered.

If we are walking with Christ, that same love should begin to shape the way we see those around us.

It is easy to be kind when someone is kind to us. The greater challenge comes when we are tired, hurried, frustrated, or dealing with someone who is difficult. Those are often the moments when our walk with Christ becomes most visible.

I have found that sometimes the simplest kindness can change the direction of someone’s day. We may never know what another person is carrying. A smile, a few encouraging words, or simply taking time to listen may remind someone that they have not been forgotten.

Paul tells us, “Be ye kind one to another.”

That isn’t complicated theology.

It is love put into motion.

Kindness does not require wealth, position, or special ability. Every one of us has something we can give. We can give our attention. We can give patience. We can give encouragement. We can lend a hand.

And sometimes we can simply give someone a little hope.

The world has enough harshness.

Those who walk with Christ should bring something different.

Reflection

When people encounter you, do they encounter the kindness of Christ?

Is there someone along your pathway today who may need a patient spirit, an encouraging word, or a helping hand?

Pathway Step

Today, look for one opportunity to be intentionally kind to someone.

Do not wait for them to ask. Notice the person in front of you.

Help someone who is struggling. Encourage someone who seems discouraged. Listen to someone who needs to be heard. Show patience where irritation would be easier.

Do it quietly, without expecting recognition or anything in return.

Let your kindness become evidence that you are walking with Christ.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the kindness and mercy You have shown me through Jesus Christ. Open my eyes today to the people around me. Help me notice the person who needs encouragement, the one who needs patience, and the one who simply needs someone to care.

Make my words gentle, my hands helpful, and my heart willing. Let the way I treat others reflect the love of Christ.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Looking Ahead

Tomorrow we will consider what it means to walk with a helpful heart—seeing a need and being willing to respond.

Closing Encouragement

Never underestimate what Christ can do through a simple act of kindness.

You may forget the encouraging word you spoke or the small thing you did to help, but the person who needed it may remember.

Walk in kindness today.

Let someone see a little more of Christ because your pathway crossed theirs.
