DAY 1: July 1 — The First Step Forward

Scripture:
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” — Joshua 1:9 (KJV)

The Message:
There comes a moment after every wilderness season when God stops saying “be still” and starts saying “move.” That moment can feel terrifying. The stillness may have been painful, but at least it was familiar. Forward movement requires trust.

Joshua stood at that exact place. Moses was gone. The wilderness years were behind him. The Jordan was ahead. Everything was changing.

And God did not give Joshua a full map.

He gave him a command:

Be strong. Be courageous. Keep walking.

Many times we want certainty before obedience. But God often gives direction one step at a time. The first step is rarely the easiest, but it is always necessary.

If God is calling you forward this month, remember this: He never sends you somewhere His presence has not already gone.

The Pathway Step:
Ask yourself today: What first step have I been afraid to take? Then place it before God and commit to taking one small step forward.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for carrying me through the wilderness seasons of my life. As I step into this new month, give me courage to move where You lead. Strengthen my heart, calm my fears, and remind me that You are with me wherever I go. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
