Day 15 — The Grace for Today
Good morning, and welcome to today’s Pathway of Faith devotional.
Our scripture today comes from Matthew chapter 6, verse 11.
“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Yesterday, we reflected on the anchor of the soul.
We were reminded that our hope is securely fastened to the throne room of God and that no storm can break what God is holding.
But as a new week begins, something often happens.
The enemy tries to pull our attention away from the faithfulness of God and toward the uncertainties of tomorrow.
He wants our minds racing ahead.
He wants us worrying about next week, next month, or next year.
He wants us carrying burdens we were never meant to carry.
And before long, we find ourselves exhausted by problems that have not even arrived yet.
Perhaps you know what that feels like.
You wake up in the morning, and before your feet touch the floor, your mind is already running through a list of worries.
Questions about the future.
Concerns about finances.
Family situations.
Health issues.
Responsibilities that seem larger than your strength.
But Jesus gives us a beautiful and gentle boundary for a heart that is learning to hope again.
It is the principle of daily bread.
Notice what He teaches us to pray.
“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Not next week’s bread.
Not next month’s bread.
Not next year’s bread.
Today’s bread.
Our Savior does not ask you to solve the entire valley this morning.
He does not require you to carry tomorrow’s burdens today.
Instead, He invites you to trust Him one day at a time.
Think about the children of Israel in the wilderness.
Every morning, God provided fresh manna from heaven.
They gathered exactly what they needed for that day.
If they tried to hoard it out of fear, it spoiled.
Why?
Because God was teaching them to trust His daily faithfulness.
He wanted them to learn that every sunrise would bring fresh provision.
Every new day would bring fresh mercy.
And every step forward would be accompanied by His presence.
The same principle applies to us today.
When you look too far down the road, the journey can seem overwhelming.
But when you focus on the grace God has provided for this moment, the burden becomes lighter.
You have enough grace for today.
You have enough strength for today’s assignment.
You have enough light for the next step.
The God who carried you through yesterday has already prepared what you will need for tomorrow.
But today, He is asking you to trust Him for today’s bread.
So bring your attention back to the present moment.
Take a deep breath.
Release the burdens of the future into His hands.
And remember that God is already at work in the days you have not yet reached.
Today’s Pathway Step:
Whenever your thoughts begin racing toward future anxieties today, pause and take a deep breath.
Then say these words aloud:
“Lord, I do not need a map for tomorrow. I trust You for my daily bread today.”
Repeat it as often as necessary.
“Lord, I do not need a map for tomorrow. I trust You for my daily bread today.”
Let us pray.
Father, forgive me for allowing tomorrow’s worries to steal today’s peace.
Too often I try to carry burdens that belong in Your hands.
Today I choose to lay those burdens down.
Thank You for being a faithful Provider who meets me in the present moment.
Thank You for the grace You have given for this day.
Thank You for the strength You provide for each step of the journey.
Help me trust You more deeply.
Teach me to walk with You one day at a time.
And remind me that Your grace is always sufficient for whatever lies ahead.
I place my future in Your hands and rest in Your care.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Thank you for joining today’s Pathway of Faith devotional.
May the Lord quiet your anxious thoughts today, strengthen your heart for the journey ahead, and remind you that His grace is always sufficient for the day He has placed before you.
