Day 10 — Dare to Hope Again
Good morning, and welcome to today’s Pathway of Faith devotional.
Our scripture today comes from Romans chapter 5, verse 5.
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
There is a wound that often follows seasons of grief, disappointment, and unanswered questions.
It is not always visible on the outside.
It settles quietly into the heart.
After enough setbacks, a person can become afraid to hope.
Perhaps you have experienced that feeling.
You prayed for relief, but the answer seemed delayed.
You reached out for comfort, and the silence felt overwhelming.
You trusted, waited, and endured, only to find yourself wondering if it was safer not to expect anything at all.
Over time, a protective wall can begin to form around the heart.
Fear starts whispering:
“Don’t get your hopes up.”
“Don’t believe things can get better.”
“If you trust again and nothing changes, you’ll only be disappointed.”
The enemy loves to attach shame to expectation.
He wants you to feel foolish for believing God’s promises.
He wants you to think that hope is a weakness.
But the Apostle Paul gives us a powerful truth.
He says that hope in God does not lead to shame.
Think about that.
The world may disappoint you.
People may fail you.
Circumstances may change without warning.
But God has never failed to keep a single promise.
When your hope is anchored in the Word of God, you are not making a wish.
You are not crossing your fingers.
You are standing upon the unchanging character of Almighty God.
The Lord will never abandon those who trust in Him.
He will never leave you stranded.
And He will never make you regret placing your faith in His promises.
But God does something even more beautiful while we wait for His answers.
He does not simply hand us a promise and walk away.
The scripture says that the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.
That phrase means His love is poured out abundantly.
Lavishly.
Freely.
Like a river flowing into dry ground.
While God is working on the circumstances around you, He is also working within you.
He fills the empty places.
He comforts the wounded places.
He strengthens the weary places.
And He reminds you that you are deeply loved and never forgotten.
Even when the answer has not arrived yet, His presence is proof that He has not abandoned you.
The love of God reaches into the cracks of a wounded heart and begins the quiet work of restoration.
Today’s Pathway Step:
Take a moment today to identify one area of your life where fear has made you afraid to hope.
Perhaps it is a relationship.
Perhaps it is your health.
Perhaps it is a burden you have carried for a long time.
Bring that specific area before the Lord.
Lay it at His feet.
Then make this declaration out loud:
“I will not let fear steal my hope. My trust is in the Lord.”
Say it again.
“I will not let fear steal my hope. My trust is in the Lord.”
Allow those words to become a prayer of faith.
Let us pray.
Lord Jesus, I confess that there are times when I am afraid to hope because I do not want to be disappointed again.
Forgive me for allowing past pain to dictate my future faith.
Thank You for the promise that hope in You will never lead to shame.
Today I bring every fear, every hesitation, and every wounded expectation into Your presence.
Flood my heart with the love of God through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Pour Your peace into every anxious place within me.
Tear down the walls that fear has built around my heart.
And teach me to trust You again.
I place my future in Your hands, knowing that You are faithful and true.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Thank you for joining today’s Pathway of Faith devotional.
May the Lord fill your heart with courage today, strengthen your faith, and remind you that hope in Him never leads to shame. Trust His promises, rest in His love, and dare to hope again.
