June 11 — DAY 11: The Anchor in the Hidden Place

Scripture:

Day 11 — The Anchor in the Hidden Place

Good morning, and welcome to today’s Pathway of Faith devotional.

Our scripture today comes from Hebrews chapter 6, verse 19.

“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.”

Have you ever sat in a room where the silence felt so heavy that it seemed to press down on your heart?

Perhaps you have looked around and felt completely alone with your thoughts.

In those quiet hours, it is easy to feel unsteady.

It can feel as though you are a ship cut loose from its moorings, drifting across a dark and stormy sea.

You look at your circumstances.

You look at your finances.

You look at your health.

And everything around you seems uncertain.

Everything feels like it is shifting beneath your feet.

When that happens, there is an important truth we must remember.

If everything around you is shaking, you cannot anchor yourself to what is in the room with you.

You must anchor yourself to something greater than your circumstances.

The writer of Hebrews tells us that through Jesus Christ, we possess an anchor for the soul.

Think about that for a moment.

An anchor is designed to hold firm when the storms arrive.

It keeps a ship from drifting when the waves begin to rise.

And God describes this anchor with two powerful words.

It is sure.

That means it will not break under pressure.

And it is steadfast.

That means it will not slip or lose its grip.

What a comfort that is for a weary heart.

But the most beautiful part of this promise is where the anchor is secured.

The scripture says it enters within the veil.

To the original readers of Hebrews, those words carried tremendous meaning.

Within the veil was the Holy of Holies.

It was the place that represented the very presence of Almighty God.

Through Jesus Christ, we now have access to that presence.

Imagine it this way.

The chain of your hope stretches far beyond the room where you sit today.

It reaches beyond your worries.

Beyond your fears.

Beyond your circumstances.

Beyond the troubles of this world.

And it hooks securely into the very throne room of God.

The storm may still be raging around you.

The silence may still fill the room.

The answers may not have arrived yet.

But your soul is anchored in a place where the storm cannot reach.

You are not being held by your own strength.

You are being held by the King of Kings.

And what God holds, no storm can destroy.

Today’s Pathway Step:

If the silence feels overwhelming today, take a moment to close your eyes.

Picture a massive anchor chain extending from your heart straight into the throne room of heaven.

As you do, remind yourself of this truth:

“My surroundings may be shaking, but my anchor is locked into the presence of God.”

Say it again.

“My surroundings may be shaking, but my anchor is locked into the presence of God.”

Let those words settle deep into your spirit.

Let us pray.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being the anchor of my soul.

When life feels unstable and the silence makes me feel forgotten, remind me that I am firmly tied to You.

Thank You that my security is not based on how I feel or what my circumstances look like today.

My hope is hidden within the veil.

It is sure.

It is steadfast.

And it is anchored in Your presence.

Hold me steady when the storms of life rise around me.

Give me peace when fear tries to take hold.

And help me remember that I am safely held in Your hands.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Thank you for joining today’s Pathway of Faith devotional.

May the Lord strengthen your heart today, calm every anxious thought, and remind you that while the storms of life may rage around you, the anchor of your soul is securely fastened to His eternal throne.
