“Be still, and know that I am God…” — Psalm 46:10
We live in a world that never seems to stop.
Our calendars fill faster than we can manage them. Phones constantly demand our attention. Messages arrive before we’ve answered the last one. We hurry from one responsibility to the next, often believing that busyness is the same as productivity.
Before long, we discover we have been moving so fast that we’ve forgotten to simply spend time with the Lord.
God has never asked us to rush into His presence.
Throughout Scripture we find that some of God’s greatest work happened in quiet moments. Moses met God on a mountain. David found Him while tending sheep. Elijah heard Him in a still, small voice. Even Jesus often withdrew from the crowds to pray.
The world tells us to keep moving.
God gently invites us to be still.
Stillness is not laziness.
It is choosing to place God before the demands of the day.
When we pause to pray before making decisions, we discover wisdom.
When we open God’s Word before opening the day’s headlines, we find peace.
When we begin our day with Christ, we often find the strength to face everything else that follows.
Perhaps today your schedule cannot be changed.
Perhaps the responsibilities are real and unavoidable.
Even so, you can carry a quiet heart into a busy day.
The peace of Christ is not found by escaping life’s responsibilities.
It is found by walking through them with Him.

Has your schedule been crowding out your time with God? What small change could you make today to place Him first before the busyness begins?

Before reaching for your phone tomorrow morning, spend five quiet minutes in prayer and read a portion of God’s Word. Begin your day listening to His voice before listening to the world’s.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for the times I have allowed the busyness of life to crowd out my time with You. Teach me to slow my heart, even when my schedule is full. Help me to seek Your presence before I seek productivity, knowing that true peace is found in walking with You. Guide my steps today and keep my eyes fixed upon Christ. In His precious name I pray, Amen.

The world may urge you to hurry, but God still says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” The busiest day becomes lighter when it begins in the presence of the One who never rushes and never leaves your side.
